Solid test preparation habits, stress-free studying, and effective time-management skills are essential for excellent exam results. Our test prep tutors will work with your child to build a strong test prep foundation that best suits their needs on test day and helps them feel confident and ready to achieve their goals.
Getting Started:
When a student comes to The Study Shack for test preparation, they are given an initial 1.5-hour assessment for whichever test they are preparing for. Based on the results of that assessment, previous testing scores, and experiences, we determine the appropriate timeline for tutoring, and discuss the areas specific to the test that will need the most focus during the next few months of test preparation.
While the course of preparation varies for each student, below are our general recommended timelines for exam preparation:
â–» Common Core Grades 3-8: Test prep begins 3 months prior to test date
â–» SHSAT: Test prep begins 3-6 months prior to test date
â–» ERB/ISEE/SSAT: Test prep begins 3-6 months prior to test date
â–» NYS Regents: Test prep begins 3 months prior to test date
â–» AP Tests: Test prep begins 3 months prior to test date
â–» SAT: Test prep begins 4-6 months prior to test date
â–» ACT: Test prep begins 4-6 months prior to test date
