Specialized High School Admissions Test Prep (SHSAT Test Preparation)
SHSAT
- Students currently in 8th and 9th grade interested in applying to Specialized High Schools within New York City are required to take the Specialized High School Admission Test (SHSAT). The SHSAT is composed of two multiple-choice sections: English Language Arts and Math.
- The Study Shack’s SHSAT test prep specialists will assist students in reviewing all content material, teaching test-taking strategies, and building time management skills necessary to successfully take the SHSAT.

Independent & Boarding School Admissions Test Prep (ISEE and SSAT Test Preparation)
Independent & Boarding School Admissions Test Prep​ (ISEE and SSAT Test Preparation)
- The Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) is recommended for students applying to independent schools in grades 2-12. The Study Shack offers test preparation sessions for the ISEE Primary (entering grades 2 – 4), lower level (entering grades 5-6), middle level (entering grades 7-8), and upper level (entering grades 9-12). The ISEE tests a student’s verbal, quantitative, and reading skills. The ISEE requires an essay which is not scored, but is sent directly to the schools.
- The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is a standardized test available for students applying to most Independent and Boarding Schools around the world. The SSAT measures a student’s verbal, quantitative, and reading skills. The Study Shack offers test preparation sessions for the elementary (grades 3-4), middle (grades 5-7), and upper (grades 8-11) level SSAT. Like the ISEE, the SSAT requires an essay which is not scored, but is sent directly to the schools.
ERB Administered CTP Testing
- These tests are administered by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB).
- CTP testing helps educators assess content specific, curriculum-based performance alongside reasoning ability and conceptual knowledge.
- CTP tests are offered from grades 1-11.
