SAT Tutoring NYC

The SAT is the most widely used college admission exam. As of 2024, all students who take the SAT will take it digitally, rather than on paper. The digital SAT differs significantly from the format of the older paper SAT.

How to Prepare for the New SAT Exam Format: There are two sections, Reading and Writing and Math, rather than three, and students can now use a calculator for the entire Math section. Additionally, it is adaptive, meaning that students’ responses impact which questions they are shown later.

Each section has two modules:

• The first module is of medium difficulty and is shown to every student.
• Depending on their performance, each student is then given either an easy or a hard second module.

To get a top score, students must perform well enough on the medium modules to qualify for the hard modules.

ACT Tutoring NYC

The ACT is also widely accepted as a college admissions exam. The ACT is offered both on paper and digitally, and consists of four multiple choice sections—English, Math, Reading, and Science—followed by an optional Writing test essay. Students receive a scaled score of 1–36 for each multiple choice section; these scores are then averaged and rounded to the nearest whole number to produce a student’s composite score. As of Spring 2025, the Science section will also become optional and the test will be shortened down to just over two hours.
